What it does

The document maker in Matching Sox Business builds one line item per document: a description, quantity and price each. You then add a discount amount, a shipping amount and a tax amount, record any amount already paid, and the preview shows the subtotal, total and remaining balance. Pick a currency (US, Canadian, euro or British pound), set a status such as Draft, Sent, Accepted, Unpaid, Partially paid, Paid or Void, and choose the Basic template, your own saved business profile, or the Yard Socket LLC sample. For a receipt the preview reads “RECEIVED FROM” and adds a payment record with the method and transaction or check number. Before you can save, print or download a receipt you must tick the box certifying that you are the issuing business or its authorized representative and that the payment details are accurate. When it looks right you can Download PDF, use Print / Save PDF, Save Image, or Share / Photos on a phone. Save document locally keeps it in this browser so you can edit or duplicate it later. The downloaded PDF is a clean text layout; your logo and signature image appear in the print and image versions.

Receipts suit cash, card, check or app payments taken in person, at a market, or after finishing a job. If a customer pays in installments, write a receipt for each payment and keep the transaction reference on every one, so your records show exactly when and how each amount arrived.

How to use it

  1. Open the receipt maker. The type is already set to Receipt.
  2. Enter the receipt number, date and who paid.
  3. Describe what they bought with quantity and price each, plus any tax amount.
  4. Enter the amount paid, the payment method and the transaction or check number.
  5. Tick the certification box.
  6. Download the PDF, print it or save an image to share.

Worked example

A customer pays for one tune-up at $180.00. Sales tax at 6.5% is $11.70, so the total is $191.70. They pay $191.70 by card, so the receipt shows Paid $191.70 and a balance of $0.00, along with the card payment method and the transaction reference you enter.
