About HEX to RGB conversion
Hex codes are how most brand guides and design tools share colors, but plenty of places want RGB instead: CSS rgba() declarations where you need to add transparency, Office and Canva color dialogs, LED controller apps, game engines, and data-visualization libraries. Converting by hand means splitting the hex into pairs and translating base 16 to decimal — easy to slip on.
Type or paste a code into the HEX field, with or without the leading #. Both six-digit codes like #1c6b40 and three-digit shorthand like #fff are understood; shorthand is expanded by doubling each digit, so #fff becomes #ffffff. The converter instantly shows the rgb() value with a copy button, along with HSL and a live swatch, and you can also pick visually with the color picker.
Below the values you get nine tints and shades, stepping toward white and toward black in 20 percent increments, which is handy for building hover states and backgrounds. Click any of them to make it the active color. Eight-digit hex codes with alpha are not accepted; add opacity afterwards in your rgba() value.
How to do it
- Open the Color tool with the button above; the HEX field is ready for input.
- Paste your hex code, such as #ff6600 or ff6600.
- Read the RGB row, for example rgb(255, 102, 0).
- Press Copy next to RGB to put the value on your clipboard.
- Optionally click a tint or shade to convert a lighter or darker variant.
