SCANS AND PHOTOS TO PDF

Turn scans and photos into a searchable PDF.

Got a stack of phone photos of receipts, letters or a printed form? This job turns those images into a single PDF that still looks exactly like your pictures, but has real, selectable text hidden underneath each word.

⌂ Recognized on your device

Everything happens on your device. The images are read by an OCR engine running inside your browser tab, and the finished PDF is built right there too. Nothing is uploaded to us or anyone else.

Free forever. No signup. No watermark. Files never leave your device.

How to do it, step by step

  1. Open the tool with the button above. The Scan → Searchable PDF mode is already selected.
  2. Pick the language the document is written in: English, Spanish, French or German.
  3. Drop your images in, or tap Choose images. Each image becomes one page, in the order you add them. Use + Add another image for more pages.
  4. Rotate any sideways page with the arrow buttons, or remove one you don't need.
  5. Press Recognize & build PDF and wait for the progress bar. The first run downloads the language data to your browser, so it takes a little longer.
  6. Check the word count and average confidence, then press Download searchable PDF.

Tips for better results

  • Shoot straight on, in good light, and fill the frame with the page. Shadows and steep angles cost accuracy.
  • Rotate pages upright before you run. Recognition works best on level text.
  • Large batches work, but each page is processed on your device, so older phones will be slower.
  • The PDF keeps your photo as the visible page. If a photo is blurry, the PDF will be too, so retake it rather than relying on the text layer.

Questions, answered

Are my photos uploaded to make the PDF?

No. Recognition and PDF building both run in your browser. Your images never leave your device.

Can I combine several photos into one PDF?

Yes. Add as many images as you like. Each one becomes a page, in the order you added them.

What image types can I use?

Common photo and scan formats your browser can open, such as JPG and PNG. Photos straight from a phone camera usually work.

Will the PDF look different from my photos?

No. Each page shows your image as it is. The recognized text sits invisibly underneath so you can search, select and copy it.

Why does the first run take longer?

The OCR engine and language data load into your browser the first time. After that they are cached, so later runs start faster.
