About JSON to CSV conversion
APIs and developer tools hand data back as JSON, but colleagues usually want to open it in Excel, Numbers, or Google Sheets. Converting a JSON array to CSV turns each object into a row and each key into a column, so a list of users, orders, or log events becomes a sortable, filterable table.
The converter collects every key that appears in any object, in the order first seen, and writes them as the header row. Objects missing a key get an empty cell rather than shifting columns, which is the most common bug in hand-rolled conversions. Values containing commas, double quotes, or line breaks are wrapped in quotes with inner quotes doubled, following standard CSV escaping. A single object that is not wrapped in an array is accepted too and becomes a one-row CSV.
The tool is designed for flat records. Nested objects are not flattened into dotted columns and will appear as the text "[object Object]", while nested arrays are joined with commas inside one cell. If your data is deeply nested, reshape it first. Invalid JSON is reported with the parser's error message so you can find the stray comma.
How to do it
- Open the Text tool with the button above; JSON → CSV is highlighted.
- Paste a JSON array of objects, such as an API response.
- Click JSON → CSV.
- Check that the header row lists every field you expected.
- Download the text file, rename it to .csv, and open it in your spreadsheet.
