About WebP to JPG conversion
Many websites now serve images as WebP, so right-clicking and saving a picture often hands you a .webp file. That is fine inside a browser, but older photo viewers, some office software, print kiosks, and plenty of upload forms still refuse it. Converting WebP to JPG gives you the most widely accepted image format there is.
The conversion works by letting your browser — which already understands WebP — decode the image, then encoding the pixels as JPEG. If the WebP had a transparent background, those areas become white because JPEG has no transparency. For product shots and photos that is exactly what you want; for logos that need to sit on colored backgrounds, the WebP to PNG converter is the better choice.
Animated WebP files are a special case. The converter works with still images, so an animation becomes a single frame in the JPG. Use quality 85–92 to stay faithful to the source, since WebP images from the web are often already compressed and do not need to be squeezed further. Please only convert images you have the right to use.
How to do it
- Open the Image tool from the button above; JPEG output is selected for you.
- Drop in the .webp files you downloaded.
- Keep the quality slider high, around 90, because web WebPs are already compressed.
- Press Convert images.
- Download each JPG; it is named after the original with -converted.jpg added.
