About Volume converter conversion
Recipes are the biggest reason people convert volume. American recipes speak in cups, tablespoons, and teaspoons; most of the world uses milliliters and liters. The volume converter includes all of the US kitchen measures — teaspoons, tablespoons, fluid ounces, cups, pints, quarts, and gallons — alongside milliliters, liters, and cubic meters.
All the customary units here are US measures, built from the US gallon of exactly 3.785411784 liters. One US cup is therefore about 236.6 mL, one tablespoon about 14.8 mL, and one teaspoon about 4.93 mL. Imperial (UK) pints and gallons are roughly 20 percent larger and are not included, so if you are working from an older British recipe, factor that in.
Beyond the kitchen, the tool is handy for fuel and water tanks (gallons to liters), aquarium and pool sizing (liters to cubic meters), and comparing drink sizes in fluid ounces. Remember that volume is not weight: a cup of flour and a cup of water occupy the same space but weigh very different amounts.
