About Weight converter conversion
Weight conversions turn up in kitchens, gyms, doctors' offices, and shipping desks. A recipe lists flour in grams, your scale reads ounces; a training plan quotes kilograms, your plates are in pounds; a courier charges by the kilo, your box is labelled in pounds. This tool handles milligrams, grams, kilograms, ounces, pounds, and US short tons.
The factors are the legal definitions: one pound is exactly 0.45359237 kg and one avoirdupois ounce is exactly 28.349523125 g, so sixteen ounces make one pound to the last digit. A US ton here means the short ton of 2,000 lb (907.18474 kg), not the metric tonne of 1,000 kg or the British long ton — a frequent source of mix-ups when comparing freight or vehicle specs.
Milligrams are handy for supplement and medication labels, though converted figures are for information only and are no substitute for a pharmacist's guidance. Troy ounces used for precious metals are a different unit and are not included.
How to do it
- Open the Unit tool with the button above; it starts on Weight with Pounds → Kilograms.
- Enter the amount in the Value field — decimals are fine.
- Choose the units you need, for instance Ounces to Grams for baking.
- Read the converted weight straight away in the result panel.
- Press Swap to flip the conversion direction.
