About Area converter conversion
Area units come up whenever you buy, rent, or improve space. Apartment listings switch between square feet and square meters depending on the country; flooring, paint, and turf are sold by the square foot or yard; farmland and building lots are measured in acres or hectares. This converter handles square centimeters, square meters, hectares, square kilometers, square inches, square feet, square yards, acres, and square miles.
A common mistake is converting the length and forgetting to square the factor. One meter is about 3.28 feet, but one square meter is about 10.76 square feet. The tool's factors are already squared from exact length definitions — one square foot is exactly 0.09290304 m² and one acre is exactly 4,046.8564224 m² — so you can trust the answer.
If you only have room dimensions, multiply length by width first, then convert the total.
For very large regions, square kilometers and square miles are the usual choice — one square mile is about 2.59 km² and exactly 640 acres. At the small end, square inches and square centimeters help with tiles, labels, and printed materials.
How to do it
- Open the Area category using the button above, preset to Sq feet → Sq meters.
- Enter the area — multiply length × width first if you only have dimensions.
- Choose other units such as Acres → Hectares for land.
- Read the converted figure immediately.
- Swap to reverse, for example square meters back to square feet.
