Free barcode generator

Matching Sox Codes makes one-dimensional (linear) barcodes in nine settings across six symbologies: Code 128 (auto, A, B, and C), Code 39, EAN-13, UPC-A, EAN-8, and ITF. Pick a format, type the value, and the barcode redraws instantly.

About this tool

Retail formats get their check digit calculated for you, or verified if you type it yourself. Formats with strict character rules tell you exactly what is wrong instead of producing a barcode that will not scan. Everything happens on your device; nothing is uploaded.

Free, no signup, no watermark. Processing happens on your device in your browser — nothing is uploaded.

How to do it

  1. Open the barcode generator.
  2. Choose a format from the list. Not sure? Code 128 handles letters, numbers, and symbols and is the safe default for labels and inventory.
  3. Type the value. For EAN-13, UPC-A, and EAN-8 you can leave off the last digit and it will be added.
  4. Adjust bar width (1–6), height (30–300 px), bar and background colors, and whether the human-readable value is shown under the bars.
  5. Download SVG for crisp print output, or PNG (rendered at 3× for sharpness).
  6. Test-scan a printed sample with the scanner you will actually use.

Which format should I pick?

  • Code 128 — general-purpose labels, asset tags, shipping and inventory; any keyboard text.
  • EAN-13 / UPC-A / EAN-8 — retail product numbers (GTINs). You need a number assigned through GS1 for products sold in stores; this tool draws the barcode but does not issue numbers.
  • Code 39 — older industrial and government systems that only accept A–Z, 0–9, and a few symbols.
  • ITF — even-length numbers, commonly used on corrugated shipping cartons.

QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

Which barcode types are supported?

Code 128 (auto, A, B, C), Code 39, EAN-13, UPC-A, EAN-8, and ITF.

Are check digits calculated?

Yes for EAN-13, UPC-A, and EAN-8: enter one digit fewer and the check digit is added, or enter the full number and it is verified.

Can I get a UPC or EAN number here?

No. Retail product numbers are assigned by GS1. This tool generates the barcode image for a number you already have.

What formats can I download?

SVG (vector, best for print) and PNG. Free, no signup, no watermark, generated on your device.

Can it make QR codes too?

Yes — QR codes are a separate tool on the same page, with link, Wi-Fi, contact, SMS, email, and phone options.
