How to do it
- Open the barcode generator with Code 39 selected.
- Type your value using A–Z, 0–9, space, and the symbols - . $ / + %.
- Lowercase letters are converted to uppercase automatically; any other character is flagged.
- Set bar width and height. Code 39 is wider than Code 128 for the same data, so allow room on the label.
- Download SVG or PNG.
- Test with the scanner your system uses.
When to choose Code 39
- Choose it when a system, customer, or standard specifically requires Code 39.
- If you have a free choice, Code 128 is usually more compact and supports lowercase and more symbols.
- The generated barcode does not add the optional mod-43 check character, which most Code 39 readers do not require.

Which characters can Code 39 encode?
Uppercase A–Z, digits 0–9, space, and - . $ / + %. Lowercase is converted to uppercase automatically.
Does it add a check character?
No. The optional mod-43 check character is not added. Most Code 39 applications do not use it.
