About this tool
Enter 11 digits and the 12th check digit is worked out for you. Enter all 12 and the tool checks them, warning you if the final digit does not match — the most common reason a UPC fails at the register. All of this runs on your device in your browser.

How to do it
- Open the barcode generator with UPC-A (US retail) selected.
- Type your 11-digit UPC (without the check digit) or the full 12 digits.
- Check the status message: it confirms the added check digit or flags a mismatch.
- Adjust bar width and height for your label or packaging, and keep the human-readable digits on.
- Download SVG for packaging artwork or PNG for documents and listings.
- Print at final size and test-scan before ordering labels.
Before you print
- UPC numbers for products sold in stores must be licensed through GS1 US. This tool does not sell or assign numbers; it draws the barcode for one you have.
- Avoid shrinking a UPC too far. Keep bars dark on a light background and leave clear space on the left and right.
- Selling outside North America? Many retailers expect EAN-13 instead, which also has its own option here.
